I graduated from the CTC UAF dental hygiene program in May of 2013. Prior to becoming a dental hygienist, I worked as a dental assistant for eight years. I can honestly say that I love all aspects of dentistry! I have been given a wonderful opportunity to work alongside Dr. Wappett and his exceptional staff. My main goal is to provide the best treatment possible for all of our patients. I do this by customizing the treatment that is right for each individual, and using the latest education and technology. Both Dr. Wappett and Dr. Lovejoy are highly skilled dental professionals who put their patients first, taking pride in all treatment they provide. Everyone works together as a team to create a positive work environment and atmosphere.
I've lived in Fairbanks most of my life and I couldn't imagine calling any other place home. Most of my free time is spent with my husband and our beautiful children. We enjoy the outdoors and try to make the most out of every summer. Our family's favorite sport is soccer and we spend a lot of time volunteering and watching our kids play throughout the year.
I have enjoyed my numerous years of practicing dental hygiene. I have worked with Dr. Wappett since he purchased the practice from the previous dentist in 2010. My favorite aspect of care is helping patients individualize their oral hygiene habits with their lifestyle. I enjoy welcoming new patients from the very young to the very mature. As a craftsman, Dr. Wappett has excellent dental skills, he doesn't take himself too seriously and tells a great joke. I like the relaxed, easy-going, yet professional atmosphere in our office.
I am married to my fun husband, Marty, and I am very proud of my children. I love to travel and learn about other cultures and experience the rich history of people and places. I enjoy baking, walking with my dog, singing, and serving in my church.
I am originally from Portland where I earned my undergraduate degree in Business Management and Human Resources. I moved to Alaska in 2011 to pursue a degree in dental hygiene, and graduated from University of Alaska Fairbanks, Community and Technical College. I am passionate about oral health and building a relationship with my patients to communicate the importance of good oral habits. Having great communication is a foundation of any great practice. Our doctors care first and foremost for the well-being of our patients, are passionate about their work, and really have fun while doing it!
My husband Bill, and I were married in 2014 and are enjoying our lives together. We like lifting weights, getting into house projects, and playing with our puppy. I am also involved with our church community.
As a dental hygienist, I have the opportunity to help Dr. Wappett in educating our patients on the importance of oral hygiene. Working with Dr. Wappett and the rest of the staff has been an awesome experience. The organization of the practice enables us to be united in our careful attention to your needs and allows us to enjoy what we do in an easy-going atmosphere. I was born and raised in Fairbanks. I attended dental hygiene school at UAF and graduated in May of 2011 from the dental hygiene program.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two daughters, outdoors or just hanging around our house with our two black labs, Rocky and Peaches. I like to snowboard, play tennis, hike, knit, and crochet.
I enjoy working with our team. We share a genuine interest in the well-being of others. It is apparent in interactions with patients and each other. I’ve never worked somewhere I feel so much warmth and welcoming.
Just out of high school I had the opportunity to work at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and was a grant recipient which helped me pay for my education. In 1999 I took a position assisting for my dentist. The experience solidified my decision to become a dental hygienist but other opportunities led me into radiologic technology where I worked in computed tomography for eight years. I earned an AAS in radiologic technology through UAA in 2007 and I completed advanced training in CT immediately after graduating. I earned an AAS in dental hygiene from UAF/CTC in 2013 and have worked for Dr. Wappett since 2016. I enjoy providing the tools and education to each patient to achieve and maintain oral health and hygiene and helping them connect dental health to their overall health. Each person is different and I find it an exciting challenge to provide individualized treatment to every patient in the most comfortable way possible. My patients are by far my favorite part of my job. There are technical aspects I enjoy because it keeps my work challenging and interesting, but getting to know my patients is what makes me look forward to coming to work.
My loving husband and I have a smart and funny son and an absolutely precious daughter. I like to stay busy, which isn’t hard to do with two little ones. I enjoy cooking, anything outdoors or in nature (lately its lots of walks to the park with the kids and our two corgis), reading about health, nutrition and child development. I’m pretty crafty with a crochet hook but would love to get better with my sewing machine.
